Each of us needs to be allowed to fully experience the consequences of their actions, whether they are good, bad, or a mix of the two.

Free people make different choices.

If people were put in the exact same starting position, they would still make different choices. Simply because every individual is different. Some of us are attracted to the mountain, others to the sea, some driven by money, others by passion, and so on…

These different choices lead to different outcomes.

Our life paths diverge over time, creating diversity, variety and… inequalities.

Correcting inequalities ?

Now, those who are very much turned towards correcting inequalities usually fail to make a key distinction. They often indistinctively invert equal outcomes and equal opportunities. Yet every time in History when someone has tried to establish equal outcomes (i.e. communism), they had to show up gun in hand.

Equal outcomes can only be achieved through violence. For it is about correcting people’s natural inclinations, just like you would stake a plant, to force it to evolve in a certain way. It is about creating huge resistance against the reality of the situation.

While it necessarily takes violence to establish equal outcomes, equal opportunities is a different matter entirely. It is about giving people freedom. Freedom to succeed, but also freedom to fail.
